The Registrar General’s Department had decided to launch One Day Service for land registrations, Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates from Saturday March.
The facility would be introduced according to a concept of Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardane to provide public services more efficiently and expeditiously.
The birth and death certificates would be issued with new safe methods according to international standards.
The inauguration of the national event would be held at the department in Battaramulla on Saturday with the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The new system would be introduced with the completion of 155 years of establishing the Registrar General’s Department in 1864.
According to the method that is used currently, it takes several days for the registration of a deed, but with the new system, people would be able to get their land registrations in a single day.
In line with the event held in the main office in Battaramulla, the One Day Service would be absorbed to other 45 provincial branches.
Birth and Death Certificates would be issued at all Divisional Secretariats countrywide as a result of the One Day Service, the Ministry said.
