In the wake of COVID-19 cases belonging to the new variant being detected in the country, the Health Ministry requested people to restrict movement and follow health guidelines by being extra vigilant.
Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath told the media that as the new variant is highly transmissible, it was essential to adhere to health guidelines and restrict movements.
“We urge people not to organise functions and parties unnecessarily. When weddings and funerals are held, people are requested to wear a mask and maintain social distancing,” Dr Herath said.
