Former Minister UNP strongman Navin Dissanayake yesterday said he would initiate a dialogue to form a common opposition alliance shortly.

Mr. Dissanayake who is the son of late Minister Gamini Dissanayake told a press conference that forming such an alliance is a must to defeat the present government.

“The country is not the individual property of Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sajith Premadasa or Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Therefore, every one of them should get together to defeat the present regime. One should look at Rajapaksa brothers who had managed to share positions in the government and learn,” he said.

“We have decided not to accept any positions within the UNP but would work towards making it a vibrant political force,” he added.

Also, he said it is vital to attract two million voters of UNP who did not turn up for voting at the last general elections.
