A group of about 15 inmates of the Welikada Remand Prison yesterday launched a protest on top of the prison complex’s roof, Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said.
He said they had put forward several demands such as filing cases against them soon and granting them bail.
Mr. Ekanayake said most of the protestors are inmates connected to drug related charges.
“They have allegations of having about 2 grammes of heroin in their possession,” he said.
