Heroin valued Rs.16.6 million seized

 A stock of 855grams of heroin was seized and two suspects arrested by Mount Lavinia Crime Investigation Division on Friday evening (23) during a raid in Attidiya.


Under interrogation the suspects stated that the trade value of the stock of heroin would be about Rs.16.6 million.   

Investigations revealed that the two suspects were husband (37) and wife(35) and that they had been carrying on the racket since long under the patronage of a drug trafficker known as” Mervin Jana” in remand and his wife now living abroad. 


The suspects had in their possession Rs. 41,000 earned through the contraband trade, electronic weighing equipment, two cellular phones, and documents relating to the transactions.  


Police had carried out the raid on intelligence received by SI Chanaka of the Crime Investigation Division.  OIC Crime Investigation Division CI Gamage Nilantha, SI Chanaka, Sergeants 53810 Ajith , 8397 Jayawardene, PCs 85557 Weerasinghe , 90027 Vitharana and , WPC 12985 Sakila and carried out the raid on the instructions of SSP Mount Lavinia Division Mangala Dehideniya.
