The new government will continue the Digana Airport building project considering the needs, Minister of Aviation and Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga told Parliament yesterday.

Mr. Ranatunga who was responding to an oral question raised by MP Buddhika Pathirana said the government had not made any decision to suspend the project as it is something which is needed.

The Minister said the feasibility study on the project is nearing completion. Also he said 16.9 hectares have been acquired by the previous regime illegitimately.
Also he said the government had decided to lift the ban on using drones considering the hardships faced by photographers, especially when they capture photographs during weddings. Also he said the need for developing the tourism sector was also considered when allowing the use of private helicopters.
