Three SriLankan flights and one Qatar Airways flight which were scheduled to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) were diverted to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) last evening due to adverse weather conditions, MRIA Manager Upul Kalansuriya said.
“Passengers were not allowed to disembark. The flights were landed at MRIA at 5.45 p.m. and will return as soon as the weather condition improves at BIA,” Mr. Kalansuriya said.
He said the three SriLankan flights UL-365, UL-303 and UL-315 had arrived from Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur while Qatar Airways flight QR-654 arrived from Doha.
Meanwhile, the BIA Duty Manager said there was no clear view of the runway to land aircraft.
