The Senior registrar and a doctor undergoing specialist training had informed the PCol into the Easter Sunday attacks regarding Zaharan Hashim meeting with the senior registrar attached to the Colombo National Hospital (CNH) in December 2018.
After his brother Rilwan Hashim had been admitted with an injury due to an explosion which had occurred at Kattankudi in August 2018.
A doctor attached to the CNH, who wished to remain anonymous, testifying before the Commission said that one of his close friends who was residing in Saudi, had called him in August 2018 and informed him that a person known to him had sustained injuries due to a gas cylinder explosion. “My friend Mohamed Marzook Rila an engineer was working in Saudi Arabia. He called me regarding a person in Sri Lanka who had been injured due to a gas cylinder explosion. He asked me what kind of first aid could be given to the patient. I requested him to send me some photos of the injured person. He informed the Commission that he had advised his friend to admit the particular person immediately to a hospital because the person had received serious injuries. The witness said that he had not influenced any doctor attached to the CNH to treat Rilwan Hashim or neither had he treated Rilwan when he was brought to the hospital. The doctor added that Zaharan had also visited him at his apartment with his friend Marzook Rila in December. “Zaharan asked me about further treatment that his brother should obtain and I recommended several doctors who carry out plastic surgery,” he said.
