EC Chief informs Prez of his retirement: Speaker’s media

Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya has informed Speaker Karu Jayasuriya that he had informed President Gotabaya Rajapaksa of his intention to retire from his post, Speaker’s media unit said yesterday.  

The heads of independent commissions appointed by the Constitutional Council are required to inform the CC of their intention to retire. Speaker Jayasuriya is the current Chairman of the CC.
