• The suspects were arrested after they arrived at the airport to board an Emirates Airlines flight to Dubai

A couple wanted over a murder in Mount Lavinia had been arrested by the police at the Katunayake airport when they tried to flee to Dubai on Saturday night.  

 Police said the couple was wanted by the police over a murder in which a man was killed in Mount Lavinia on July 27.  

The Mount Lavinia Police had informed the Airport Police after information was received that the suspects were preparing to flee to Dubai.  

Accordingly, a temporary travel ban had been imposed against the suspects by the Airport Immigration Department officials.  

Police said the suspects were arrested after they arrived at the airport to board the flight EK-653 of the Emirates Airlines departing for Dubai.
