Power Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said the report which was handed over to him by the nine-member committee appointed to investigate the sudden countrywide power outage, was submitted to the Cabinet yesterday.
The Cabinet discussed the report and a final decision would be announced during the weekly cabinet briefing and the report would be published afterwards.
The committee appointed to investigate the sudden countrywide power outage on August 17 which occurred due to a failure at the transmission system at the Kerawalapitiya Grid-Substation, was handed over to the minister on Monday evening (24). Minister appointed the nine-member committee headed by Prof. Rahula Attalage to probe circumstances that led to the sudden power outage that affected the entire country in order to identify measures to reduce the risk of recurrence of such situations.
