Champika Ranawaka unanimously elected Chairman of Committee on Economic Stabilisation



  • Three opposition members head committees in Parliament

Opposition MP Champika Ranawaka was yesterday unanimously elected Chairman of the Committee on Economic Stabilisation yesterday. 

The Committee on Economic Stabilisation was one of the new committees that have been formed. 


Mr. Ranawaka’s press secretary told Daily Mirror that he was elected unanimously.

Mr. Ranawaka has been nominated by MP Vajira Abeywardene while he was seconded by MP Mano Ganesan and Minister Nazir Ahamed.


Accordingly, three opposition members head committees in Parliament. These include Kabir Hashim who heads Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) and Harsha de Silva heads Committee on Public Finance and now Mr. Ranawaka head of Committee on Economic Stabilisation.
