SLPP Kandy District MP Wasantha Yapa Bandara tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday and became the sixth parliamentarian to be infected. 


Mr. Yapa Bandara in a Facebook post confirmed that he was down with the coronavirus. “I was informed by the district health officials that I am a COVID-19 patient around 10 p.m. on Sunday. Therefore, I request those who came into close contact with me to undergo the relevant medical check-ups,” the MP posted. Mr. Yapa Bandara is the sixth Member of Parliament to be tested positive for COVID-19 starting from Dayasiri Jayasekera, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, State Minister Piyal Nishantha MP Rauff Hakeem and Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi.
