Accident at Wellaboda railway crossing in Boossa Four members of same family dead



 

  • The trishaw driven by the son had entered the level crossing regardless  of the alarm signals and bumped against the Anuradhapura bound Rajarata  Regina Express

A trishaw bumped against a moving train at Wellaboda railway crossing in Boossa, causing the death of four passengers.   

Investigations revealed that four members of one family Kalinga Jinadasa (85), Manimel Dura Emishamy (83) their son Kalinga Sunimal (46), and his wife Lasika Kumari Mendis,(48) were on their way to Galle by trishaw. Three of them died at the scene and the other on admission to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.  


Police said the trishaw driven by the son had entered the level crossing regardless of the alarm signals and bumped against the Anuradhapura bound Rajarata Regina Express from Beliatta.  


Ratgama police are conducting further investigations.
