Uncapped bowlers Malinda Pushpakumara and Vishwa Fernando have been recalled to Sri Lanka’s limited-over side for the five-match ODI series against India. The selectors have also recalled all-rounders Thisara Perera and Milinda Siriwardana to the side. However, Sri Lanka’s Test captain Dinesh Chandimal has been overlooked once again for the limited-over squad. This will be Upul Tharanga’s first series as full-time skipper after Angelo Mathews resigned last month.
Injured pair of Nuwan Pradeep and Asela Gunaratne are not in the 15-man squad. There was also no place for fast bowlers Asitha Fernando, Nuwan Kulasekara and Lahiru Kumara who played during the Zimbabwe series.
Thisara last played for Sri Lanka during the Champions Trophy while Siriwardana made his last appearance against Bangladesh at home in April.
The series will start on August 20 in Dambulla.
