Sri Lanka has always been a friendly country with all our close and distance neighbors in Asia. When they start wars we have been either neutral or try to help solve the problem without taking sides. That’s a good thing our neighbors can learn from Sri Lankan foreign policy no matter what party has been in power all these years. Conversely, we have the kind of worse internal politics compared to any neighbor. No president, PM, minister or ruling party MP has resigned taking responsibly for any misdeed. Never a ruling party elected member ever arrested and persecuted for dishonest, illegal or criminal conduct or orchestrating such acts either. Unfortunately, Sri Lankan only experience is that the government and the ruling party always crush any criticism on their immorality, corruption, devil-may-care bad acts and obliterate the source after a witch-hunt. We need a mature and educated leadership that understands their responsibilities to voters to be a true democracy within Sri Lanka.
