Undergraduates carried out a protest march yesterday that called upon the authorities to end student suppression and to put an immediate stop to money collection in schools apart from seven other demands which they believe would help uphold the free education system in the country. The march commenced before the Fine Arts University in Colombo and was due to continue until the parliament. The students however could not proceed from Battaramulla onwards as the Police used tear gas to dispel them. Pix by Kushan Pathiraja
