The main hostel of Ananda College was renovated by the Sri Lanka Navy under the direction of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and was handed over to school authorities today, after a 30 day programme. Seen here is Mr. Rajapaksa, a distinguished old boy, talking to a school boy. Pix by Kushan Pathiraja
Well done Mr. Secretary and a superb timely action on time!

Being an old Anadian, I am touched and proud of what the Navy has done for Ananda College. It is even more amazing to see a teacher who tought me some 40 years ago in a hearty conversation with the Defence Secretary.

In the 1960's the Hostel accommodated 256 students in 7 dormitories without any bunk beds. Can someone provide the student population figures in the Hostel today? Gotabhaya and Basil were both Hostellers in the 60's Ram

Why only one school gets preferential treatment. This is discrimination. There are many schools in the Island lacking basic necessities, why not help them first?
