Indian Army General Bikram Singh arrived in Sri Lanka today on a five day visit to strengthen military relationship between the two countries. He is visiting the country on an invitation from Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya. He was given a guard of honour at the Army Headquarters. Pix by Pradeep Pathirana

Our army was capable to defeat LTTE any time since the Wadamarachchi Operation. Each and every army chief, and each and every soldier were capable and ready to do so. Leadership in the army always were ready. Only thing that we lacked, is the political leadership and the political will of the leader of this NATION. JR stooped the Wadamarachchi operation bowing to the external pressure.From there, every leader of this country believed that LTTE was not defeatable by militarily. Regardless of our political differences, we should give credit to MR and GR for winning over LTTE..That is the truth and it can not be changed.MR's stand against the west and powerful NGOs, his diplomatic tactics to keep Pakistan,China and Russia at our favor, pave the way. SF did what he was train to do.IT WAS A CRUCIAL POLITICAL WAR IN THE WORLD ARENA RATHER THAN A WAR IN A BATTLE FIELD...!
