Well at least we will see a bunch of hilarious number plates on the road in a few years time.. Eg: XXX 6969
    lol

    maxi Thursday, 09 August 2012 11:42 AM

this will also corrupt after few years,,,
what do you think abt this ...
    C-AA-1234 - for cars
    V-AA-1234 - for vans
    M-AA-1234 - for M/Cycles
    B-AA-1234 - for Buses
    L-AA-1234 - For Lorries
D-AA-1234 - For Dual purpose or ect...

just AAA-1234 will also face same problem in the future...

Kos Ata Kabraal Thursday, 09 August 2012 10:43 AM

What was the need for this expensive change? What was wrong with the old SRI plates?

    Hamzie - Qatar Thursday, 09 August 2012 09:30 AM

Why cant they learn from other developed countries numbering system. Take an example of UK, They had a numbering system based on model, which they discontinued in year 2000. Now UK is using an excellent numbering system (Alpha Numeric), which can be used for a longer period for millions of vehicles.

P.S. Please don't use Qatar model, it is rubbish.

Kosapsip Pugal Thursday, 09 August 2012 08:01 AM

you can use either petrol or diesel

    warra09 Thursday, 09 August 2012 07:25 AM

time to bring customized number plates.

Jack in the Box Thursday, 09 August 2012 07:32 AM

ideally it should be Wp AAA - 1234 and where is the "P" "D" No space to put it ?????

    spyboy Thursday, 09 August 2012 06:23 AM

anyway i think the ZZ range is over, so definitly they will have to go for AAA now, that's the scene

Ismail Sadurdeen Thursday, 09 August 2012 05:09 AM

They dont have the P or D under the dash...Sri lankan number plates have lost their uniqueness now :/

Just Another Citizen Thursday, 09 August 2012 04:56 AM

Soon the plates will be wider than the cars that are made.

    IVJ Wednesday, 08 August 2012 11:42 PM

Back to basics, "A" for Apple, "B" for".............!!

    sltk2004 Thursday, 09 August 2012 04:39 AM

Are the law enforcement agencies aware of this (example traffic police)? If not vehicles with these new numbers will surely be in trouble...

Mohammed Jihad Thursday, 09 August 2012 04:29 AM

    again a unwanted expences..

    roadrunner Thursday, 09 August 2012 04:09 AM

why couldnt they foresee this situation and in the beginning ?
at the rate we are going its better to have all the digits in Alphabets.

Common Cense Thursday, 09 August 2012 04:02 AM

Wow we have to inform vehicle manufacturers to keep a bigger space to put up the number plates. I don't get why they want to have the province code. We are smaller than a state in India.

    Sammy Thursday, 09 August 2012 03:57 AM

What a mess we have made regarding registration numbers for motor vehicles. Why could not there have been foresight and this issue sorted out once and for all?

    Sarneris Thursday, 09 August 2012 03:52 AM

I dont see the P for Petrol or D for diesel.

I am sure it will be added later on with much fanfare and another increase in cost.

    Dam Thursday, 09 August 2012 03:27 AM

where is the "LINE" ( - ) mark oh its missing ........lol

    sara Thursday, 09 August 2012 02:43 AM

only hope it will not create another "Z" score at the end.

It is a shame we cannot hold an Examination without creating problems, we cannot import a liter of petrol/deisel without creating a problem.

US have landed it's Rover we are only talking big.

    Cyclops Thursday, 09 August 2012 01:55 AM

For every change there is a kickback!!!
