Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva formally assumed duties as the new Commander of the Navy at the Navy Headquarters yesterday. President Maithripala Sirisena, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, appointed Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy and promoted him to the 3-star rank of Vice Admiral with effect from January 1, 2019.

Congratulations to both new Commander on assuming the Command ! Best wishes to former Commander on his retiring life who goes on naval history by not extending his service thereby paving the way for junior officers. Admiral Sirimevan Ranasingha has shown the true gentleman like qualities once again.
