Leave our political differences. Under MR, with the fertilizer subsidy his government gave to poor farmers, by 2013, we were self sufficient with rice. To a few neighboring countries, we donated rice when they had difficulties. The 2004 paddy harvest was so good, the UNP/SLFP govt did not have enough storage space and they used Mattala airport to store paddy (and to insult MR). Today the same govt is begging to China asking to donate rice. What a shame! Today, we have killed our paddy farmers and kneeing down to Chinese.

As usual, some MPs will convert this into cash and place the cash in their private bank accounts. After all we are in Sri Lanka Politics. That is why we came into politics.

The first and last picture looks like the quality of rice is not good. It looks the international community has put Sri Lanka in the same level as Somalia, South Sudan, Yemen, etc.

China does not want us to be independent and developed. They want us to be a beggar and dependent on them... Our buuuru govts then and past did not want to realize this because they and their wives and children and close hechmen get their santhosam with these unscrupulous deals...

It is rice, not plastic. And it looks like Chinese Jasmin Rice - the stuff that the Emperors ate. Those who are lucky to receive this in assistance should cook it with less water - 3/4 cup of water for 1 cup of rice. Serve with two or three hot curries and a fry of small fish dry fish or sprats. As a 'heel buth' try with kirihodi and polsambol. Those who do not like Jasmin rice could exchange their share for their favorite rice or wheat flour.
