Maldivian resort group plans second project in Kalpitiya

Leading Maldivian resort group Sun Siyam said it was setting up a 100 percent Maldivian-owned villa resort in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka.
The resort chain controlled by Managing Director Ahmed Siyam already owns a property in Sri Lanka— Sun Aqua Pasikudah.
The 68-room Sun Siyam Kalpitiya on Vellai Island is expected to open its doors for customers in 2017.
The hotel group has also announced a large-scale resort project on Dhigurah Island, Maldives in addition to its three existing Maldivian properties. 
The project, which is currently in progress, will have 600 rooms, 14 different room categories, 14 food and beverage (F&B) outlets, underwater restaurant and a wine cellar. 
The resort mainly targets rich European visitors. 
On completion, the resort will be the largest tourism offering in the Maldives and is expected to create more than 2,500 jobs.
Sun Siyam Resorts is a Maldivian luxury hotel brand founded by Chairman and Managing Director Ahmed Siyam Mohamed.
