The Import Section of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce together with Sri Lanka Customs will hold a forum tomorrow (January 13, 2016) to create industry level awareness about the newly launched ‘SL Custom’s Single Window System’.
With the participation of over 400 participants, the forum is expected to take place at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute and will focus on the operational benefits and processors involving the new operating system.
It will be addressed by top Customs officials and is designed for exporters, importers, freight forwarders, carriers, traders, logistics providers, container operators and all in Customs and port operations.
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake launched the ‘Single Window System’ on January 4, 2016, enabling Sri Lanka to be in line with the international trade regulations of the World Trade Organisation and World Customs Organisation. The industry believes this move will help increase the efficiency of Customs-related activities.
Under this new initiative, all public and private sector institutions involved in the import/export sector will be required to follow the new system to fulfil all import or export-related regulatory requirements. Those who wish to take part in this forum may call on 5588880 or 5588871 or email [email protected]
