The Finance Ministry yesterday said all public sector employees would be paid a special interim monthly allowance of Rs.2,500, from July 1, as announced in the 2019 budget, in March.
“A circular in this regard has already been issued by the Public Administration and Disaster Management Ministry with the consent of the Treasury to all secretaries to ministries, chief provincial secretaries and heads of departments,” a Finance Ministry statement said.
The ministry also said this special allowance would be in addition to the Rs.7,800 cost of living allowance, which “will be continued in future too”.
Rs.40 billion was allocated in the appropriation bill of 2019 for this increase in public sector salaries.
