“We felt there was a void in the market for active, busy, working individuals who want to put together without having to put a lot of effort into it while staying modest and ageappropriate. These styles are reflective of the fun new fashions that can’t be found always in most of the department stores in Colombo. However, the silhouettes in the collection are intended to flatter women of all ages, shapes, and sizes,”

said the Uptown Showroom Manager Shashika Makalandanage. When asked who the target Uptown customer is, Makalandanage said, “At first we thought it would be individual’s like us– a busy, working person who is always on the go. However, there are all types of customers who visits our mother showroom in Kadawata from most of the cities in Sri Lanka. It seems to appeal to all ages and communities around the country, taking it a step further and widening the horizons so that the brand will reach out to a wider target audience thrills us.”

The new Uptown department store mixes vibrant colors and patterns with slightly longer hemlines, varying sleeve options and shapes resulting in fashion that is figure flattering, age appropriate and contemporary. The collection is rich in its interesting patterns and vibrant colors of bright jades, teals and turquoise mixed with touches of coral and balanced with neutrals, executed in substantial fabrics that are easy to care for. Mix of textures with fabric manipulation and prints bring exquisite detail and dress up knits for stretch and comfort.

The new collection, debuting March 26, 2016 at Uptown 2nd Floor Liberty Plaza Colombo, consists of approximately 50000 styles including men’s formal and casual shirts, knit collection, jeans, trousers and shorts, men and ladies shoes, bags and accessories, ladies’ casual, jeans, party wear and sarees, lingerie collection, sportswear, exclusive line perfumery and cosmetics that are versatile and affordable. Apart from its clothing line collection, the department store will be having its own spa, sweet corner (chocolate, gummy bears, etc.), international watches, cafeteria, book corner and IL Gelato ice cream corner. International brands – Adidas, Crocodile, Lee, Wrangler, Mish Mash and Key Plus (Indian brand) Local brands – Embark, Pg Martin and Regamol Introducing brands – Uptown, Private Label, Thirteen, Tee Love, Black & White, Avrora (jewellery) The collection will be available in Uptown department store where its price point will make the most sense and the target customer shops. The line will also be available online across the country and world at www. and http://www.facebook. com/kandyuptown.
