Extending an already impressive winning streak, Elephant House Cream Soda has been awarded the unprecedented, 10th consecutive “Beverage Brand of the Year” honour at the recent 2016 People’s Awards, jointly organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and The Nielsen Company. Elephant House Cream Soda has essentially dominated this top award since the launch of the People’s Awards in 2006.
The SLIM Nielsen People’s Awards stands out because it is the public that judges the final winners, throwing their support behind their favorite brands, personalities, advertisements, films, teledramas, etc. Winners are selected based on a nationwide quantitative face-to-face surveys, conducted by Nielsen interviewers, which encompassed males and females between the ages of 15 to 60 and covered all districts of the country, over a period of five months.
As such, this win is very special because it means that Elephant House Cream Soda is not just well loved by all Sri Lankans, more so than any other beverage brand, but also, for a decade now, it has remained the most popular beverage in the local market, as signalled by Nielsen’s island-wide polling.
Commenting on Elephant House’s historic showing at the 2016 People’s Awards, Ceylon Cold Stores PLC Head of Beverages/John Keells Holdings Vice President Daminda Gamlath said, “Elephant House Cream Soda now celebrates a remarkable 10 years as Sri Lanka’s most popular beverage, truly the people’s choice. All of this points to sustained customer commitment and delight, from both longtime and new fans, and we could not have done any of this without their continued love and support, for which we offer them our heartfelt and unreserved thanks.”
