Sri Lanka’s largest private bank, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC yesterday said it was raising up to Rs.7 billion through a listed debenture issue. To this end, a resolution was passed by the board of directors of the bank at its Annual General Meeting held on August 1. Accordingly, Commercial Bank has decided to issue listed, unsecured, rated, redeemable debentures for Rs.5 billion with an option to go up to Rs.7 billion subject to regulatory approvals and other “conditions acceptable to the bank.”
