Bank of Ceylon’s (BOC) Thurunudiriya loan scheme has assisted to-date 1, 000 young entrepreneurs across the island disbursing more than Rs.410 million by end of September.
This was reported in the weekly progress report issued by Bank of Ceylon, on 26th September 2019.
The loan scheme has been disbursing loans to all 25 districts of the island.
The highest number of loans was disbursed in Sabaragamuwa province with 168 loans while 157 loans were disbursed in the Northern Province.
Out of the Thurunudiriya loan recipients, 61 percent were women entrepreneurs. Beauty salons, apparel industry, food production and horticulture are some of the businesses popular among the ‘Thurunudiriya’ loan recipients.
Thurunudiriya loan scheme provides loans without guarantors and collateral or with lenient guarantor conditions, for entrepreneurs below the age of 40 years, who possess a degree or a recognized vocational certificate and who has been in the business for a minimum of 3 years.
