BPPL Holdings only Lankan firm among Forbes 2021 ‘Best Under A Billion’ list

One of Southeast Asia’s largest brush manufacturers and Sri Lanka’s pioneer in recycled plastic products, BPPL Holdings PLC, has become the only Sri Lankan company to enter Forbes 2021 ‘Asia’s 200 Best Under a Billion’ list.

Forbes Asia last week announced its 2021 ‘Best Under A Billion’ list, which recognises 200 top-performing publicly listed small and midsized companies in the Asia-Pacific region with sales under US$1 billion.
Forbes said despite the global spread of COVID-19, this year’s annual list highlights the resilience of the ‘Best Under
A Billion’ companies.

Of note, healthcare and pharmaceutical-related companies were standouts while tech and logistics firms linked to the global e-commerce boom also benefited.

In the 2020-21 financial year ended March 31, 2021, overcoming pandemic-induced challenges, BPPL’s consolidated revenue grew by a robust 31 percent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs.3.4 billion.

The group gross profit improved by 38 percent YoY to Rs.1.2 billion, while the post-tax profit rose 23 percent YoY to Rs. 497 million.
