Araliya Group is set to double its hotel room inventory to 1,014 rooms, as Araliya Unawatuna and Araliya Red in Nuwara Eliya are scheduled to be launched this year.
Araliya Group of Companies Chairman Dudley Sirisena told reporters this week in Colombo that Araliya Unwatuna and Araliya Red in Nuwara Eliya will add nearly 500 rooms to the group’s room inventory this year, which are almost ready to be launched.
Meanwhile, Araliya Group of Companies Deputy Chirman Dimithri Darshana Pallewatte told Mirror Business that Araliya Group is looking to extend its footprint to Kandy.
However, the proposed new hotel project in Kandy is yet to be finalised.
According to Pallewatte, Araliya Group currently owns and manages 500-600 hotel rooms in Polonaruwa, Nuwara Eliya and Galle districts.
The five-star Araliya Green City in Nuwara Eliya is the largest hotel of the Araliya Group hotels, which has 192 rooms.
In addition, the group owns and manages the four-star Araliya Green Hills Hotel in Nuwera Eliya, which has 107 rooms.
The group also owns and manages another 14-room hotel and five tourist bungalows.
Further strengthening its footprint in Nuwara Eliya, the 188-room Araliya Red is scheduled to commence operations this year. Sirisena highlighted that the location is the key attraction, which compelled him to purchase the property, which previously housed a hotel that had gone bankrupt.
He noted that the hotel is being re-constructed under a new design to make the maximum out of its location, that will have a 360-degree view once completed.
Meanwhile, Sirisena said that the five- star Araliya Unawatuna, which is set to be launched this year, is likely to have 304 rooms, making it the largest hotel under the Araliya Group.
Speaking of the hotel’s design, he said Araliya Unawatuna is equipped with all dining and entrainment facilities. The hotel also offers direct access to the beach, offering safe sea baths throughout the year.
The Hotel Sudu Araliya in Polonnaruwa, which is one of the first hotels to be owned and managed by Araliya, has 104 rooms.
