Youth shot dead in Salon

A man having a hair crop at a barber salon at Thelawala Road in Ratmalana was shot dead by two gunmen who stormed into the salon around 1.00 pm today.

The victim Ellawalage Yeman Yasantha Abeyratne (25) from the area was a field officer of a job bank in Kollupitiya. However after marriage he had been living in Polgasovita in Piliyandala and often visited Mount Lavinia and Ratmalana area. He had gone to Thelawala to attend an alms giving at a relative's house.

The owner of the salon said he had four people including the victim waiting for hair crops and that  he was attending to another when two gunmen rushed into the salon and shot the victim. He said the two gunmen fled the scene on a motorcycle and that he immediately called police.

Police said the motive of the killing was yet to be established and that they had not yet received any vital information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
