The Galnewa police said the 11-year-old daughter of a businessman was injured, having been shot by an armed gang on May 28, during a failed attempt at a robbery.
The gang had tried to rob the businessman’s house. In their attempt to rob the house, they had opened fire using a T 56 assault rifle.The child had been injured in the shooting, with bullets in her leg near the knee. She had been admitted to the Galnewa hospital and later transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
The armed gang, wearing army uniforms, had carried out the attack at about 1.00 am on that day.By Athula Bandara
