Addressing a special ceremony held to mark the 18th death anniversary of late President R. Premadasa at Hultsdorf in Colombo, Mr. Jayasuriya said the UNP which brought independence to this country would protect all security forces personnel including jailed former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.

He said the UNP was also committed to safeguard democracy in this country as it was done by late President Premadasa. “The best tribute one can pay the late President is by safeguarding his principles. “

Mr. Jayasuriya recalled that Mr. Premadasa took over the presidency when the country was in a deep crisis, but he was able to salvage the nation from destruction despite challenges.

Referring to the present situation within the UNP, he said the party was in a sound position today with some young energetic leaders coming forward together with a couple of seniors, piloting it towards victory. With these assets, he said the party could be made a people’s party as it was done in the past by late President Premadasa.  (Yohan Perera)

What rubbish is this? UN is NOT blaming the soldiers. Its ONLY blaming the President & his Brother for war crimes.

Will UNP protect the govenment if they did the war crimes? .. or take this as a good chance to decrease the power of MR?

WHAT? You protect the Security Forces. They are already protected by MR and UPFA govt. Your party betrayed them in many a time, along with White Tigers abroad.
