The United National Party (UNP) today questioned whether the SLFP would take disciplinary action against its members who garlanded the former North Western Provincial Council UPFA Member who was charged with harassing a school teacher.
It was reported recently that some members of the SLFP had garlanded this member of the Pradeshiya Sabha when he was coming out of the Puttalam Magistrate's court.
UNP spokesman Gayantha Karunatilleke told that action should be taken against these SLFP members who gave such a reception to the Pradeshiya Sabha member. He questioned whether the SLFP General Secretary would take action against these members. (Yohan Perera and Lahiru Pothmulla)
It indicates that either there is no discipline in the party or centre too supports the culprit.

Disgraceful state of affairs. MR apologizes to the teacher while the culprit is garlanded as he comes out of court. We have become the Debacle of Asia.

Thugs or criminals can garland another thug or a criminal especially when they come out of a hall of justice. We have seen this scenario in recent times too often in Sri Lanka. "Aney apey ratata giya kala"

No action, they will all be appointed to the SLFP working committee or the SLFP Executive committee

May be rowdyism, murder and rape to name a few are considered great achievements of these uncouth politicians that is why they are given such prominence and welcome as we witnessed very recently.
Calistus Jayatilleke Monday, 01 July 2013 10:42 AM
Of course, nothing will happen to them because those who welcome and garland "national heros" are considered to be real patriots.

This fellow who was garlanded will now be considered an honourable member of the pack of government political thugs. After all The recent Presidential delegation to Tanzania was composed of thugs including Mervin Silva, and two other well known thugs . No wonder the US> Ambassador has warned US citizens to be Wary when visiting this country.

I missed the fact he had been garlanded. He did the deed, he was forced to resign, and ... it just boggles my mind that people have honored a man who dishonored a teacher and no doubt has shamed his daughter.
Renu Monday, 01 July 2013 01:11 PM
This is Mahinda Chintanaya. He will be nominated run for elections, or his wife may hold the bucket
