Senior UNP Parliamentarian and working committee member Lakshma Kiriella, speaking to Daily Mirror online called for all factions of the party to accept the verdict of the working committee. The working committee of the UNP voted in Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe by a thumping majority at the elections held last eveing. " We must accept the decision of the working committee and now work towards being a vibrant oppositon. We have been accused time and again of not doing the duty of the opposition and letting the government have its own way, the time has now come to do our duty by our country setting aside all differences for the sake of the country and the party," he said.(H.F)

UNP is not the working committee. Working committee is the taste of the present failed leader. In the meantime educate the leader to accept the verdict of the people of Sri Lanka.

When you handpick your working committee this type of result is expected. The only people who don't see that the UNP will not move forward with RW are in the working committee. UNP can be in the opposition forever and soon will lost the majority even as the opposition. Way to go with RW.

Who appoints these Working Commitees, Are they appointed by Leader? if so can we expect fair judgement. Dont you think its not honarable for a party leader to resign after loosing more than 10 electiions consectively??? What you all Ranils supporters are doing is that showing a dummy which is rejected by masses and asking again and again to support that dummy. Be wise and save the party Mr. Kiriella....
