Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said India's vote against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC was in line with its stand and wanted to ensure that concern was expressed to enable minority Tamils in that country to get justice.

Singh also said India did not want to "infringe" on the sovereignty of Sri Lanka.

"One has to weigh pros and cons. What we did was in line with our stand on Sri Lanka. We do not want to infringe on the sovereignty of Sri Lanka but concerns should be expressed so that Tamil people can get justice and lead a life of dignity," he told reporters here.

He was responding to a question on India voting in favour of the US-sponsored resolution that censures Sri Lanka on alleged human rights violations during the war against LTTE. Singh had on Monday told Lok Sabha said India was ‘inclined to’ vote in favour of the resolution which meets "our objectives" with regard to the future of ethnic Tamils. (The Times of India)

who want to stop our country's development? they did the beginning of the war in Srilanka and strengthened the LTTE terrorist. If America telling Al-Qaeeda is terrorist, LTTE also higher level terrorist than Al-Qaeeda, that we know as SriLankans. In all around SriLanka South, North, East, West and Mid country every where Tamil people living freely, friendly with Sinhalese and Muslims as one family, this can see in Universities also. They do buisness and their jobs well and freely without any interruption.
so why need polls and amendments. who want to devide the country they give votes against SriLanka. we want our country's development. If any others want to stop it we should stand against them.

you have forgotten the rights of 1000s of sikhs ( your own community) who surveived the holocaust of Hindus in New delhi after the assasination of Indira. You alos look into the rights of Ksmir Muslims, Punjabi sikhs and Indians of North eastern states. When some thing happens Innocent muslims are arrested and tortured. No need for any polls. Just go to Bambalapitiya, Wellawatte, Dehiwela etc and see for yourselves the tamils living with the SInhalese. No one is forcing them to live in those areas and they are free to move to the North but will not do so because life there will not be as good.

Sure agree but it does not mean India can interfere with Sri Lanka's or any other country’s internal issues like what Gandhi's did.
India's policy is to de-stabilize neighboring countries for its own (political) survival. Its very clear.
Why India did not interfere with the final stage of the war because of Mumbai attack. It was a good lesson to India. Do not forget it.

Sure, India can do what they want, so can Sri Lanka, we are also a sovereign country, don't you forget that. But what India forgot is, that they have given a life line to the racist politicians in TN, let's wait and see how India will react when these racist TN politicos kick-up separatism troubles and ask for autonomy for TN!! Karunanihdi had fired the first salvo!! Manmohan, brace for this; we the Sri Lankans would be laughing from our back side!!
