Update: Prison riot continues

The inmates continue to pelt stones and clubs towards the road as well as at STF personnel. The reporter also said that some inmates had been carrying objects similar to guns while attacking the officials.

Some inmates have got on top of the roofs at the Prison and are pelting stones and other objects towards the road, the reporter said.

Our reporter at the scene said that the Road opposite the Welikada Prison has been closed and traffic has been diverted to alternate roads.
