The United National Party (UNP) met at the party headquarters in Sirikotha this evening to discuss party reforms, UNP sources said. The meting was held under the leadership of UNP Deputy leader Karu Jayasuriya. (ISA)

Charisma!!!! Can you please explain the connection between charisma and MR? Bill Clinton, John F Kennedy, Gamini Disanayake, Vijaya Kumaratunga etc etc were chasimatic leaders. MR maybe over popular among some people here but that doesnt mean he is charismatic.

How can we trust UNP to govern, when they cannot put their house in order ? A rejected leader clinging to power, supporters crossing to the opposition and low on morale.
Take a cue from the recent elections. MR has the charisma and all the ingrediants what the country needs. Ranil is too blind to see this.

Should not blame R.W. We all know How free and fair was all elections in tthe recent past. Reforming the party is a good move but all should get together and take the party forward and see ways and means of free and fair elections in the future for the betterment of all parties not alone the UNP.

mApER-The unp constituion was not signed in front of the marraige registrar.This is a party belonging to its members and not reserved for a selected few.If the membership feels that its leadership is not delivering then the root cause must be taken out there cant be a compromise for this.Any institution will prosper with the correct leadership and guidance.

In discussing and deciding on reforms, the UNP leaders are well advised to bear in mind that it would be totally counter-productive to heap the blame for the present predicament the party finds itself in solely at the doorstep of Ranil. All party leaders should bear the burden of that blame. If the overriding objective of reforms is the removal of Ranil from the party leadership at this point in time, that may not augur well for the future of the party.

Ranil should not forego the leadership but expeditiously implement reforms. In life, just because you disagree with your spouse you do not discard him or separate from him. So the rest of the UNP members should toe the line. INTELLIGENT POLITICIANS LIKE GALITH ATHULATHMUDALI, GAMINI DISSNAYAKE TRIED TO IMPREACH PRESIDENT PREMADASA BUT IT FAILED. Of course there should be -CONFRONTATION, CONSENSUS AND COMPROMISE.
