Two Malaysians arrested with Rs. 5 mn worth Whisky bottles

Two Malaysians were arrested yesterday by the CID for allegedly buying five bottles of whisky worth Rs. 4,860, 000 from several five star hotels in Colombo using fake credit cards, police said.

They said a 30-year-old man and a woman aged 23 were arrested while they were staying at a five star hotel in Colombo.

Police have found five whisky bottles which cost Rs. 9 72,000 each and 25 fake credit cards at the time of the arrest.

The suspects were  produced in the Colombo Magistrate Courts today and remanded until September 3. (AS)

    Are these figures correct ? Each bottle worth US$.7365 ? I did not know that even 5 star hotels stocked such premium whiskies.
