LIMASSOL: The Limassol District Court issued an eight day remand yesterday for two Sri Lankan suspects aged 25 and 38, in connection with the attempted murder of a 32-year-old compatriot on December 17 in Limassol.
The victim was attacked and brutally beaten at a petrol station and is still unconscious at Nicosia General Hospital.
The two suspects are being held in connection with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit robbery among other offences.
According to acting police spokesman Nicoletta Tyrimou the victim owed the two men €1,000 for sending some of his personal belongings to Sri Lanka.
Tyrimou also said that the victim’s car, stolen from the scene, was found on Christmas Eve at Petra tou Romiou with traces of blood inside. (Source: Cyprus Mail)

What a shame! I hope the Cyprus Police and Courts will give the two culprits the maximum punishment (if they are proved guilty) to deter other Sri Lankans from bringing disrepute to our motherland! Our media (Sinhala, Tamil & English) should give publicity by divulging their names, the district they come from and even the schools they attended in Sri Lanka.
