Two killed in accident

At least two people were killed following an accident in the Nittambuwa area on the Mirigama Road yesterday, police said.

The accident occurred when a bicycle collided with a parked lorry. The injured succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital.

Meanwhile, two people were drowned while bathing in the Mahaweli River near Kandakaduwa in Aralaganwila yesterday, police said.

The victims aged 12 and 18 were part of a group of pilgrims from the Poojapitiya and Werellagama area in Katugastota.

Police said one of bodies had been recovered and a search was continuing to recover the missing person.

Accident...accident ...accident... enough of reading such tragedies... either in the road, river, sea, well, village, forest or in any place you name there is an accidental death in Sri Lanka. Oh the Almighty please save our beautiful Island.
