There are chances that Singh will go to Jaffna-Chidambaram

Indian Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Saturday said that there are chances that Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will go to Jaffna and hold talks with newly elected Northern Province Chief Minister C.V.Wigneswaran.

Referring to an invite extended by C V Wigneswaran to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said, "The invite is still open. There are chances that our Prime Minister will go to Jaffna and hold talks with him. If he visits Jaffna, it would amount to a visit to Lanka. There are chances that Lankan President Rajapaksa would change his mind."

He accused the Lankan government of not following up on the functions of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Committee and not punishing the guilty in the genocide, despite having constituted it.

India has been consistently insisting for implementation of 13th amendment. "It is only because of India, countries are aware of the developments in Sri Lanka and that's how Canada decided to boycott the Commonwealth summit," he said.
Contending that is not an "easy task" to fight for minority rights in another sovereign country, which is also a neighbour, he asked "Are we saying it is right to fight for a separate land for Mizos or in Kashmir or in Manipur."

Suq Madique Monday, 02 December 2013 12:41 PM

Will it be the same way they dealt with the IPKF and LTTE?

    kumar Monday, 02 December 2013 09:12 AM

In that case the people of North-East will deal with it. You don't need to worry about it.

    priya Monday, 02 December 2013 08:01 AM

Why are you coming now. We don't want you in our country. Be with Jayalalitha. You can not ask us to do any thing. Mr.Sing do you own damn business.

Rata Haraka Monday, 02 December 2013 05:49 AM

Tell him to GO TO HELL. He didn't think it right to come here for CHOGM, now he wants to go to Jaffna, claiming it is "tantamount to vising Sri Lanka". Don't give him the visa, don't let him come here. How can some local politician, regional leader invite the head of state of another country without the president's permission. Go to bloody hell, Singh.

Haka Haka Monday, 02 December 2013 04:52 AM

Not too late mate, He will come and make SL president a cow before he leaves.

Crazy Coot Sunday, 01 December 2013 12:19 PM

Hope Namal R. will accompany Singh to the north as he says he has been there many more times than the TNA MPs.

    Nova Sunday, 01 December 2013 11:49 AM

They don't know the right way to do things same as Camaron, but we let any one come here and do any thing, those countries would not allow us to do the same in their countries though.

Why crash the party when it is over. He has to obtain a VISA from the GOSL first. Theatrics to please the TN politicians and hoodwink the TN voters.

First he has to come to Colombo and talk with MR prior the visit to Jaffna. That the correct way.

    kumar Sunday, 01 December 2013 05:27 AM

Before going to Jaffna tell the world what
your Indian army did to the Tamil civilians in Jaffna.

Be careful with those Dosai and Murukku.

    Asoka Sunday, 01 December 2013 04:55 AM

Bodu Bala and JHU will prevent his visit.

Neutral thinker Sunday, 01 December 2013 04:50 AM

That will be a good move. Sri lankan Minoritis ask only for equal political rights like 13th plus, not a separate country.

Ravi sene Sunday, 01 December 2013 04:40 AM

He is not welcome to SL any more.

    Doodle Sunday, 01 December 2013 03:58 AM
