The JVP said today that one of the only departments that the public had kept its trust in was the examination department and the actions by the department has resulted in the public losing trust in the body and the entire system. Speaking to the Daily Mirror DNA MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the government should take responsibility for the fiasco. The actions of the examination department has caused distress and frustration among the students, parents and the public as a whole, the Advanced Level exam is the most decisive exam for all children who are a part of the free education system of the country” he said.
He further went on to state that it is the duty of the government to do justice by the students. “The irresponsible actions of the government has resulted in chaos, I read reports that the president directly intervened on and urged the department to release results, but this isn’t what the President has to do, what he should’ve done was to ensure that the department is run smoothly and the policies introduced are practical”.
Dissanayake said that the students deserve justice and the government has to take full responsibility for its actions and make sure the students get the results they deserve. “ This is the future of our country that these people are playing with and we call on the government to make sure justice prevails and the students receive results they deserve” he said.( Hafeel Farisz)
