The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence as its watered daily not like in Sri Lanka. Why blame people for leaving for a better life where the rule of law reigns supreme.
ana Thursday, 09 December 2010 09:21 PM
Excuse me Akila.Do you want to know the reason? Look at your Leader? Who want to live in a country when he is the opposition leader? Traitor
Asoka Thursday, 09 December 2010 10:16 PM
I left after JVP antics!! Asking ransom, death threats etc and when got the opportunity why should I put up with them. Idid not leave to earn more money but for peace of mind. Probably would have returned if economically favourable.
asoka abeywardena Friday, 10 December 2010 12:58 AM

RAW Friday, 10 December 2010 02:47 AM
We want comeback give something back to our motherland. But what is going to happen to our future? Politics is the main cause for this drain. Government needs to support job creation and R&D.
gamaya Friday, 10 December 2010 04:42 AM
what's wrong with sending money back to SL, even if we live in some other contry. Our relatives still live in SL.

Because, people with brains have no future in Sri Lanka.
TDDC Thursday, 09 December 2010 08:29 AM
What is the salary of a fresh PHD guy (not Dr Silva) after spending 50% of his useful life in achieving of academic excellence? Rs 25,000 or less ???. Can he maintain a family with that???. Such people would stay in Sri Lanka only due to personal reason like parents, properties, or some do not like to work hard any more and preferred soft life.
indika Thursday, 09 December 2010 08:30 AM
not given value to their acedemic talent in the past. Still the trend goes on. Now only local academics given value.
Angel Thursday, 09 December 2010 08:32 AM
OK They earn valuable foreign exchange & have love to the motherland
Thinker Thursday, 09 December 2010 08:45 AM
Its really surprising that UNP came to know this now. This was happening since decades. Are you truely on this matter to find a wayforward.Or just to throw some muds?
Kumara Thursday, 09 December 2010 09:05 AM
What do you expect them to do? Stay at home (in SL)
rosh Thursday, 09 December 2010 09:06 AM

Most of t em leave not for poor salries, but for the fact that they do not want to report to dumb bosses.
DXB Thursday, 09 December 2010 01:08 PM
Do not just blame UNP , UNP is the only party who gave perks & recognised the Sri Lnakans working in abroad .... .... Once Former finance misnister Ronie De Mel said we should well come our foreign work force on Red carpet .... what this goverment has done for us ............. ??? only they have put FEB ladies for beg from us ...
pd Thursday, 09 December 2010 01:33 PM
the so called unp mp has not revealed his source of info. he is just shooting in da air . anything to find fault with govt. check b4 commenting
Saman Thursday, 09 December 2010 01:43 PM
Very true. Sri Lanka does not know how to treat academics properly. The bitter uneducated people will always try to repress them. Better for the academics to go abroad and reach their potential
Ruwan Thursday, 09 December 2010 01:47 PM
then don't send the money, ppl permanently settle down in respective countries..specially aussie etc
Kumar R Thursday, 09 December 2010 03:26 PM

Fatalist Thursday, 09 December 2010 03:59 PM
