An 81-year-old Australian doctor and human rights activist with Sri Lankan heritage has been refused entry to Singapore.

Brian Senewiratne was scheduled to travel from Singapore by road to Johor Bahru in Malaysia to give two talks about the political situation in Sri Lanka, and the factors influencing Sri Lankans to seek asylum.

Dr Senewiratne was born in Sri Lanka but has not visited the country since 1984 and has been an Australian citizen since 1976, according to The Age.
After landing in Singapore on Friday, Dr Senewiratne was detained in an interview room at Changi airport for four hours.

He was then escorted by an armed guard to a flight which returned him to Australia.

Dr Senewiratne said the guard handed him a notice saying he wasineligible for a visa, but did not provide further details. (Source: The Age)

His grudge with Sri Lnaka is a personal one. Nothing to do with
human rights. He was not given a university job in Peradeniya Uni., as there were better aspirants.

If he is genuine, roger, he should visit Sri Lanka first and get first hand information instead of acting on hearsay. Probably, he has an axe to grind against our country.

How can an Australian, who had not visited Sri Lanka for 28 years, although born in Sri Lanka give a talk on Sri Lanka political situations to Malasians. He must give the factors that influenced him to leave Sri Lanka in 1976, before talking about the factors that influence Srilankan to seek asylum.

It is a pity that modayas have infiltered Singapore government.

    Lobo Monday, 17 December 2012 11:53 AM
