Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today ordered the prison authorities to transfer former Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Shashi, from the private hospital in Malabe to the Prison Hospital.
On a motion filed by the Prisons Department, the Magistrate also directed the prison authorities to obtain a medical report from the Prison’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and seek his advice on whether Ms. Weerawansa needs to be admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
The Kaduwela Magistrate yesterday remanded her till today (25) on charges of having obtained a diplomatic passport by submitting fraudulent documents.
In Sri Lanka judiciary practices medicine as well. Were are the doctors that should determine the medical situation of a prisoner?

How about arresting those who gave her this passport. Its impossible the passport officer not to have known that these were forged documents. This passport not authorised by the Foreign Affairs Ministry anyway.

Do wrong? Pay for it. But WHY are people like Karuna Amman and KP still at large? Losing faith with MY3 and his government.
Just Another Citizen Tuesday, 24 February 2015 02:33 PM
So being a VIP and being arrested, they automatically fall ill all the time and get transferred to the medical ward. Amazing
AMMI Tuesday, 24 February 2015 02:34 PM
How convenient for these kind of people to fall ill immediately when arrest warrants are issued. Absolute dramas. Seen many in the past, guess the prison hospital also have the five star facilities.
de silva Tuesday, 24 February 2015 02:52 PM
You cannot get a Diplomatic Passport without the knowlrdge of the Foreign Ministry. So who authorized it.Sounds very fishy
Abraham Tuesday, 24 February 2015 02:57 PM
You mean to arrest G.L Peiris? He was the foreign minister when Wimal and his wife got fake documented passport.
Matilda Ellepol Tuesday, 24 February 2015 03:10 PM
This culture of politicians and VIPs getting merchanc ward or prison hospital under remand arrest should be stopped right away and show the Yahapalana now. This habit was going for years with VIP drug lords, brats and Mudalalis connected with Politicos never go into remand prison and why 2 level of treatment?
Fassey Tuesday, 24 February 2015 03:12 PM
Aney paw poor GL just leave him alone.
Prince Tuesday, 24 February 2015 03:13 PM
Maybe she took something to be sick. How ever the JMO or the Prison hospital doctors should check her and if found false should remand her with out bail. This woman is a imposter and so is her husband. Strange why they are not arresting him.

Veda-mama Tuesday, 24 February 2015 04:14 PM
Oh! This is just unbelievable. How could all VIPs and their associates fall sick when ever they are to be remanded...but...not the ordinary citizen?
Azee Tuesday, 24 February 2015 04:48 PM
Why isnt the CImm&Emi not being questioned via DM Android App
Bala Tuesday, 24 February 2015 02:09 PM
It is indeed strange how these people develop all these ailments only when remanded. They must be further charged for trying to cheat the law if they are found to be in good health.
Abdul_Rahuman Tuesday, 24 February 2015 09:25 PM
Probably she would have Dual registration on Voters List.
