Convener of the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Sanjeewa Bandara has been released on bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate a short while ago.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Crime Division (CCD), which is conducting investigations into the incident, had requested the Magistrate to release the suspect on three main conditions including that of restricting all students’ protest to Colombo’s Hyde Park Corner.

The Magistrate rejected the request saying he has no authority to issue such an order on this matter.

Spoilers of Free Education in Sri Lanka. Inferiority complex have led them to show colors. Poor guy/s and after few years another person will take this place. Sorry being one of our . young son. My sympathy to you, Sanjeewa. Follow the path of Dhamma to heal your thoughts.

Mostly I do not agree with these guys politics. But I'm surprised to see that our government is not aware about the fact that handcuffs does not work for political opponents. They work only for criminals.

GREAT ON THE THE PART OF THE MAGISTRATE FOR REFUSING THE POLICE'S REQUEST TO BAN ALL STUDENT PROTESTS AT HYDE PARK. The authorities are trying to use this boy to ban all protests by students.

A big "WELL DONE!!" to the MAGISTRATE, for being strong and intelligent!

If this guy is a student he should be doing his studies without getting engaged in political activity. This is not what the parents expected of him at the university. All political activity in the universities must be banned.

You right. JVP brought this government in to power. they should be punished.

Ask the minister of public affairs and his son to follow the path of Dhamma. This guy is already following as he has dedicated his personal gains for the benefits of majority. And you too think of rechecking whether you are following the path of Dhamma or path of MR as it's very clear that you are unable to see what is wrong and what is right correctly. May the Tripple Gem Bless you!

WHAT KIND OF LAW IS PREVAILING IN OUR COUNTRY
ONE IS FOR MALAKA ANOTHER ONE FOR ORDINARY PEOPLE

    Minister Tuesday, 25 September 2012 06:31 AM

Then why not the man wanted by courts in iron deal? Why law is applied only to one party?

    DCOL Tuesday, 25 September 2012 08:28 AM

They never help anything positively for the education. Ragging, posters... because they are not any-more students and cared by the JVP

    CP Tuesday, 25 September 2012 07:47 AM

What about other protests happening in the capital? aren't they disrupt the public ?? why law only applied to one party. Judiciary must act boldly

Yohan Perera Tuesday, 25 September 2012 07:24 AM
