UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says he had held successful talks with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) in his effort to secure its support for Opposition Common Candidate General Sarath Fonseka. Mr. Wickremesinghe said that the TNA would, however, take time to announce its stand on the presidential election.
“As it appears to me, talks with the TNA were successful. I do not hide anything from the people. We have discussed about relief measures for the people in the North and the East. There should be equality and equity in the country. Gen. Fonseka has also expressed himself in this respect during talks with the TNA,” he said. (KB)
