Ranil concerned over Fonseka

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has called on the government to send a medical team headed by Sarath Fonseka’s personal doctor and another medical officer nominated by the Director General of Health Services to examine the detained General and provide required treatment.

Wickremesinghe said in a statement today that the UNP was concerned about Fonseka’s health especially because he was a person whose body was weak after the suicide bomb attack he had to face in 2006.

“It is inhuman to treat a hero who faced such an attack in the manner he is being treated now,” Wickramasinghe said in a statement.

He stressed the need for allowing Fonseka’s personal physician to see him in accordance with medical ethics.
